Hamilton County Youth Employment
What do we do?
Hamilton County Youth Employment offers year-round chances for employment, career exploration, professional development, and credentialing for youths ages 14-21 in Hamilton County. Program activities are for those who meet eligibility requirements and are fully enrolled.

And you meet these qualifications:
- Age 14-21 at the time of enrollment.
- Reside in Hamilton County.
- Can identify a barrier to employment.
FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO ENGAGE THE PROGRAM.
STEP 1 (After completing Step 1 come back and complete Step 2 and Step 3)
- Click here to complete the eligibility form.
- In the “YEP Partner” section (top left), select “Talbert House” from the dropdown menu.
- In the “Eligibility Criterium” section (near the bottom). Identify a barrier to employment (e.g., lack of experience, age, scheduling). , DO NOT leave blank.
STEP 2
- Complete *Program Forms.
- Program forms allow you to participate in paid training.
- Complete the entire packet and submit it.
STEP 3
- Complete *Hire Forms.
- Hire Forms allow you to participate in employment.
- All youth require two valid IDs to be hired. (No copies accepted) Click here for a list of acceptable IDs.
- Youths ages 14-15, must provide a work permit.
- Attend a Hire Session.
- Select one session from the list on the Talbert House website.
- Bring your work permit (if required) and two forms of identification.
- Youth under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
- Those who arrive without Identification (or valid work permit) cannot be hired immediately and will need to attend a later session.
* To be employed, both the Program AND Hire forms need to be completed.

Summer Employment Details
- The work schedule begins the first week of June 2024.
- Youth ages 14-15 work up to 20 hours per week at $13/hour.
- Youth ages 16-21 work up to 30 hours per week at $13/hour.
- The work schedule is decided by both the workplace and the youth.
- Regular attendance is required.
Program Training
- In preparation for employment, all youth are required to complete Job Readiness Training (JRT) sessions before beginning employment in June.
- Each JRT session is incentivized $50 upon completion.
Examples of Job Types
- General Labor (e.g., assisting custodial staff, detailing cars)
- Admin (e.g., office work, assisting teachers, athletic directors, band directors, etc.)
- Tech (training in coding/programming, AI, 3D graphics, drone flying, etc.)
- Childcare (e.g., camp counselor, child care assistant)
- Customer Service (e.g., cashier, retail associate, food service)
- Arts (e.g., music, digital art, graphic design, photography)
