Crisis Stabilization

Our Crisis Stabilization program is a 14-bed residential treatment service designed to provide immediate mental health support and stability, helping clients avoid or transition from psychiatric hospitalization. Our approach includes individual and group therapy, medication management, and a rapid response room for those requiring short-term care.

This program provides a safe and supportive environment for those in need of emergency mental health care. Whether facing a mental health crisis or dealing with substance use, the program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each person, making sure that they receive the appropriate level of care.

We take referrals through Central Connection, ensuring individuals can quickly access the help they need.

Engagement Center

The Engagement Center serves as a critical triage unit for individuals battling opiate addiction, including those who have experienced an opioid overdose or are at high risk of reuse due to withdrawal symptoms. Our primary focus is connecting people with the appropriate treatment services and developing comprehensive discharge plans that set the foundation for successful long-term recovery.

Referrals to the Engagement Center must be initiated by calling 513-338-8738. We work closely with each client to ensure they receive the care and support needed to overcome the challenges of addiction and begin their journey to recovery.

The Engagement Center is funded in part by the Hamilton County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, with additional support from the Louis & Louise Nippert Charitable Foundation, the Jacob G. Schmidlapp Trusts, Fifth Third Bank, and the Spaulding Foundation. This collaborative funding allows us to provide vital services to those most in need, offering a lifeline to individuals at a critical time in their lives.

Mental Health Day Reporting

Our Mental Health Day Reporting program offers a structured and supportive alternative to incarceration for Hamilton County residents with a mental health diagnosis. This program serves individuals involved in the Hamilton County Municipal and Common Pleas Courts.

The program is a collaborative effort between the Mental Health Court Team, Crossroads Center, and Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health, ensuring comprehensive care and reintegration support.

Using a cognitive behavioral approach, our services include monitoring, daily reporting, case management, drug testing, risk/needs assessment, and life skills training. Participants also have access to job search assistance, educational services, and financial management support.

For more information on additional services, see our Hamilton County Court Guide. Talbert House is committed to providing the resources and support needed to help individuals successfully reintegrate into the community.

Opioid Treatment Program

The Opioid Treatment Program supports individuals struggling with opioid addiction, including those who have experienced an opioid overdose or are at high risk of reuse due to withdrawal symptoms. Our program provides individualized care, starting with a thorough assessment and personalized treatment planning.

Participants in the program receive individual and group counseling and case management services, all designed to support their recovery journey. A team of qualified health professionals ensures patients receive the highest level of methadone treatment services, tailored to their specific needs.

At Talbert House, our goal is to provide the necessary resources and support to help individuals reclaim their lives from addiction.

Client Spotlight

Pamela

As a young adult, Pamela was using marijuana and other drugs as well as drinking heavily, leading to her developing a substance use disorder. After being in and out of the justice system Pamela entered the ADAPT program at Talbert House. “I knew that I was sick, I just didn’t know how to get well.”

After completing ADAPT Pamela has been in recovery ever since. Feeling reinvented, she wanted to learn about addiction and why she was so affected by this disease. At age 45, Pamela went back to school and obtained her CDCA.

To those still struggling with their substance use disorder Pamela says, “There’s no recovery without hope, no future, there’s no recompense without hope. You’ve got to fight for your recovery, just like you fought – and harder – for that drug.”
